Honestly, n8n's been the biggest unlock for me when it comes to actual workflow automation. I've used Zapier and it's fine for connecting two apps together, but the second you need anything remotely custom you're either paying through the nose or hitting walls. With n8n I can self-host the whole thing, wire up 500+ integrations, and I'm not stuck if they decide to change pricing or kill a feature. No vendor lock-in is a huge deal when you're building workflows your business depends on. Zapier's great as a starting point but I'd push anyone doing serious automation to at least try n8n β€” the learning curve pays for itself in a week.
