I've often thought it would be nice to go into a party and have a device discreetly reminding me of everyone's names.

Hoping Zuck will integrate this feature into the Meta Ray-Bans. The competition in wearables is indeed heating up.

It’s funny to see all the others racing like lemmings to do glasses (sorry Google you were 1st & it was bad) when there are a million kinds of small ambient devices they could create. I’m interested in seeing what legendary iPhone designer Jony Ive/OpenAI unveils. They’re planning a new category of AI-native hardware. The first will be a sleek, pocket-sized companion that β€œintegrates seamlessly into users’ lives.” Altman has been adamant that it won’t be a wearable. Very clever to create something that goes through the wash in our pockets so we will be buying the device again and again.

Kidding aside, Amy Webb, a respected futurist, predicted pervasive AI-enabled wearables some time ago.

I have no doubt there will be wide adoption, and we may not end up standardizing because companies will offer many different form factors. Zuck thinks glasses are great because it's not rude, like pulling out your phone during a conversation. We will all just know when someone is wearing the Meta Ray-Bans they aren’t paying attention to us.

Here is my take on OpenAI’s pocket Companion https://gettingrealaboutai.substack.com/p/ai-companion

Is thereβ€”or will there beβ€”a feature that adapts to eye prescriptions?
